Director of Development & Promotions

Parks & People Foundation seeks an experienced Director of Development & Promotions to oversee development and public relations functions. Founded in 1984, Parks & People is a Baltimore-based non-profit dedicated to creating a positive urban environment through educational, recreational and environmental programs and partnerships.  We unite citizens and open space in Baltimore and support opportunities that create and sustain beautiful and lively parks, and promote a healthy natural urban environment.

Parks & People is independent of the City’s Recreation and Parks Department, but works with them and many other agencies and local organizations to keep city spaces beautiful, sponsor youth activities and involve neighborhoods in clean-up, greening and garden projects.  It is actively engaged in visibly bettering Baltimore.

Its activities are supported through grants from city, state and federal government agencies and from foundations and corporations, and by gifts from individuals. Its annual operating budget, including the annual fund, is approximately $3.5 million.

In addition, Parks & People has raised over $8.4 million of a total capital campaign goal of $12.2 million to restore 9 acres of parkland, create an education center and relocate its headquarters in Druid Hill Park, Baltimore’s oldest park.  The project includes restoration of the site and an historic mansion, and the creation of a new 10,000 sq. ft. environmental resource and headquarters building designed to LEED Platinum standards.  Groundbreaking is expected this spring, marking a significant investment in Parks & People’s future and an opportunity for increased public awareness and support of the organization.
