Development & Promotions Assistant

Work Type - Full time, non-exempt 40 hrs/wk

Description
The Parks & People Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities; creating and sustaining beautiful and lively parks; and promoting a healthy natural environment for Baltimore. Parks & People seeks an energetic and detail oriented Development & Promotions Assistant with excellent verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for a pleasant, outgoing individual with initiative, creativity, and the ability to work well under pressure.

The Development & Promotions Assistant keeps accurate records of all contributions made to the Parks & People Foundation; handles various correspondence with constituents; maintains the master mailing list, donor database and development files; organizes and executes multiple bulk mailings each year and performs general office administration for the Development Department and Executive Director.

The Development & Promotions Assistant works as part of a team to plan and execute special events and fundraisers, develop printed materials other promotional materials, and research potential funding opportunities for the Foundation.

Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and time management skills are required. The successful applicant must be able to respond to occasionally complex, non-routine problems, possess good time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple, concurrent projects, which are often associated with deadlines. Good people-skills are needed to maintain strong relationships with donors, grantors, volunteers, and vendors. Proficiency in computer systems and MS Office software required and an interest in learning new programs expected.

Education
At least two years of college in Marketing, English or related field required, Bachelors degree preferred.
