
Education Program Leader, Baltimore Ecosystem Study (BES)
Full time position with the BES Long Term Ecological Research site for an ecology educator to help infuse urban ecosystem science into school and community-based education programs. The educator will:
1) Work with Baltimore schools to create long-term programs that investigate the local environment and engage students in learning about the big ideas in urban ecosystem science through inquiry.
2) Provide support in the classroom and field to teachers and environmental educators implementing inquiry-based investigations in urban ecosystems, including teachers in the Parks & People Foundation’s KidsGrow Program.
3) Facilitate collaborations with other organizations and programs to provide professional development opportunities in urban ecosystem education, and to connect educators to BES science.
4) Participate in and help support other Baltimore Ecosystem Study outreach and education activities.
Requirements: MS degree in relevant field, 3 years experience teaching and program development in relevant field. Curriculum and professional development, organization and writing skills required. Familiarity with Baltimore, urban ecology or social science research, and GIS skills a plus. Person hired for postion will work from the Parks & People Foundation office in Baltimore, MD.
