Volunteer KidsGrow Kids' Companion

| Major Objectives: |
Since 1994, our KidsGrow environmental education program has touched the lives of hundreds Baltimore City school children through summer camps and after school programs. The fundamental mission of KidsGrow is to create future natural resource leaders, through character and leadership development, community and stream clean-ups, tree plantings, community gardening projects and community art projects.

| Major Responsibi- lities: |
Direct Service with Children
- Tutor / provide homework assistance
- Assist with snack distribution
- Chaperone on field trips
- Monitor children in classroom to make sure they are on task
- Provide encouragement and support
- Conduct workshop on environment education, character or leadership development
Administrative
- Acquiring supplies, setting up field trips
- Data Entry
- General Administrative Support

| Qualifications and Requirements: |
KidsGrow Kids' Companions must be highly motivated, energetic, and committed to giving children positive experiences which will sustain them during the school day and beyond. Companions must work well in a team and be willing to give 100% at all times! Bonus if Companion has environmental education or youth development experience. Minimum age is 12 and long term volunteers will have to undergo background checks if working directly with children.

| Training and Supervision: |
Volunteers will receive general information about Parks & People, the KidsGrow program, and program policies and procedures before starting their commitment. Once on location, the designated site leader will provide training and orientation. Volunteers will be supervised on location by the site leader.

| Place of Work and Times Needed: |
If you would like to assist with administrative matters you should report to our office. We are open Monday through Friday from 9 am – 5:00 pm at 800 Wyman Park Drive, Suite 010, Baltimore, MD 21211. To assist with children, we have two school locations in west Baltimore which operate Monday through Friday from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.

| Commitment Required: |
At least three hours for each day you choose to volunteer
