Pearline was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. As a teenager she became active in social justice issues with the Seattle Young People's Project and Youth Undoing Institutional Racism. Pearline’s work was recognized when she received one of the first emerging leader awards from Bishop Desmond Tutu. After completing high school she moved to New Orleans to attend Xavier University of Louisiana. After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Pearline moved to Baltimore to attend graduate school at Morgan State University. Her motto is carpe diem!
