TREE & SHRUB SALE

Parks & People Foundation has partnered with RPM Ecosystems, a leading Native plant nursery, to provide the Baltimore Metropolitan region with exceptional trees and shrubs for planting this fall. RPM native species are reliable, hardy, and naturally adaptable to the climatic conditions of the Eastern U.S.

Through RPM, Parks & People is offering trees that are suitable for conservation and restoration plantings as well as for park, neighborhood and lawn greening. These native trees and shrubs will provide immediate ecological benefits wherever they are planted.

Trees are one year old (2' - 6' high), in three gallon containers (10 1/8" diameter, 7" deep) and sell for $45 each for individuals and $35 each for community organizations, watershed associations and land trusts.

Click on the links below to find out more about each of the tree species available. Following the links are detailed purchase options. (NOTE: We are unable to deliver trees except for orders of 25 trees or more. Tree pick-up is in Baltimore on May 9, 2009 between 9am and 2pm. See details below.)

About the RPM Method

The Root Production Method (RPM) is a natural process found to positively affect trees, shrubs, and grasses, resulting in accelerated growth, increased root mass, early flower, fruit, seed, and/or nut production, and higher rates of establishment and survivability.
RPM is composed of a series of horticultural practices including: collection of superior native seed stock, air-root pruning, greenhouse growing, acclimating to local conditions, balanced nutrition, soil microbial and fungal relationships, container growing in special media, and timing learned from over 20 years of field research.
