Goodbye, Spring Branches!

Congratulations to our Spring Branches interns for completing their Green Entrepreneurs and Innovators Challenge (G.E.I.C.)!
Each year, interns developed a product or service intended to improve the current environmental conditions that they then “pitch” to a panel of judges of community partners. Winners receive cash prizes for their inventions!
Our brilliant interns rounded out the semester by presenting their capstone projects on today’s most pressing environmental issues. They each did a fantastic job of creating solutions to issues in their own neighborhoods, including creating a nonprofit for rehabbing dangerous abandoned buildings, teaching Family & Consumer Sciences classes, providing unhoused people opportunities and resources, and providing affordable clean water to Baltimore City Public Schools.
All Spring, we were inspired by the ingenuity, creativity, and care each intern brought to the table.
We will miss our Spring cohort, but are looking forward to the Summer Branches interns coming to us from YouthWorks Baltimore!
Branches is an innovative, environmental education and youth leadership program that challenges interns to maintain parks, build green spaces, and learn about the environment while being exposed to opportunities for the next phase of their lives. Each year, interns receive 200-360 hours of environmental education, character development, community service, job readiness skills, development of a life-long love of physical activity and an introduction to green careers, while earning a stipend. We have year-round opportunities to join, with Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Be sure to check our website and join our newsletter to learn about all of our youth programming!
