Middle School Sp

Parks & People has been committed to motivating young people to be active and spend time outdoors for more than 25 years. As one of the largest providers of after-school athletics to public middle schools, we have provided sports and recreational opportunities free-of-charge to almost 30,000 young people in Baltimore City — most of whom would never have had the chance to play organized sports without our free programs.

Unique to our sport leagues is a tri-part focus on physical literacy, character development and environmental education – with teams gaining points in all three areas throughout the season and culminating in a series of playoff games to declare winners of the Character Cup, Environmental Bowl and League Championship. Our baseball, soccer, basketball, kickball and volleyball leagues provide instruction for first-time players and spirited competition for more experienced athletes.

Our sports program directly supports our mission to unite Baltimore through parks by bringing together teams from diverse neighborhoods for special weekly game days. These weekly highlights are designed to engage pre-teens in meaningful and fun character development and athletic skill building activities in which all youth interact, and ending the day with competitive play between teams.
