Parks & People Cuts the Ribbon on transformative Penn North green space - Stockton Street Park
On June 13, 2026, Parks & People gathered with partners, funders, and community members to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Stockton Street Park in the Penn North neighborhood of West Baltimore. Situated at 2408 Stockton Street, the project reimagines a site once defined by vacancy and unrest into a vibrant new community green space within the Historic Black Arts & Entertainment District, behind the iconic Arch Social Club. Spanning just under half an acre and serving more than 3,200 nearby residents, the project represents a critical investment in a historically disinvested neighborhood—prioritizing safety, accessibility, and community pride. Led by Parks & People as project manager and supported by a coalition of partners, Stockton Street Park reflects a shared commitment to honoring the area’s rich history while creating new opportunities for connection, resilience, and everyday moments of wonder.
“This park represents hope, healing, and the continued vibrancy of Baltimore’s Pennsylvania Avenue. Together with residents and partners, we are creating welcoming spaces where wonder grows and communities thrive.”
Project highlights include:
A custom decorative gate designed by local artist Nick Ireys (@nimetaldesign) in collaboration with community members
A mural by Baltimore artist Jordan Lawson (@artbyjlaw_)
New landscaped green space designed to support gathering, recreation, and neighborhood pride
