What is a city without green spaces in which to breathe, dream, and enjoy?

Donate to Parks & People

Parks & People’s mission is to spark wonder through play, education, and nature, creating a community of environmental stewards for a healthier Baltimore.

Why are city green spaces important?

Human connection to nature has declined 60%

Green space, like so many other critical community resources, is not equally distributed across Baltimore. Parks & People is driving a movement for a greener, more equitable Baltimore—one where wonder fuels possibility and inspires action.

Transforming Baltimore’s Communities

In Baltimore City, many communities in East and West Baltimore have no access to healthy green spaces.

Parks transform people.

The act of reclaiming a vacant lot or beautifying a neglected open space, even by a few residents on a single block, can serve as a catalyst for positive change and growth throughout a community.

Our city’s youth inherit the future.

Every year, Parks & People makes it possible for over 1,000 city 1st – 12th graders to be engaged in meaningful programs emphasizing physical activity, environmental education, college and career readiness and character development.

We don’t want to ask you to come out and find less than ideal conditions; we want you to come out and see that Baltimore has state-of-the art parks and trails, and then that leads to more people coming out, and then it’ll take care of itself.
